Big Shotz

Laverne and Shirley were planning for their annual trip to the Outer Banks. This year they knew exactly where they wanted to stay ... the Croatan Surf Club. Shirley and Carmine had visited the complex when they came down for a romantic weekend at First Colony Inn Bed and Breakfast.

The innkeeper there was so kind and told them about the new place on the beach. After a delicious breakfast they went to see for themselves.

When they got back home, Shirley told Laverne all about it ...the oceanfront pool, the indoor and outdoor spas, the nearby restaurants. Just then their neighbor Squiggy burst through the front door and said that he had just booked his vacation at this new place on the Outer Banks called the Croatan Surf Club. He wanted to know if Laverne and Shirley wanted to chip in and pay part of the rent ... along with Lenny, his best friend...who followed Squiggy in.

Shirley said under one condition ... that she and Laverne would share a room (king bed), that Carmine could come too (king bed) and that Lenny and Squiggy would share the pyramid bunk room.

"I call the top bunk" said Squiggy! "I get to pick the TV shows we watch each night" shouted Lenny. Deal.

"Lenny, Lenny...there is a Spray Park...we can run through it all day long..whoo hoo!"

"No beds to make or towels to wash" said Shirley ... "Everything is already there".

Laverne was calculating how many Pepsis and how much milk she would need to buy to get through the week and Shirley was already beginning to pack (don't forget Boo Boo Kitty). Carmine danced around the girls apartment in anticipation of a beautiful week on the North Carolina coast. Laverne also began sewing letter "L's" on her new swimsuits and coverups.

It was a good, no...great, thing that there were three full bathrooms because there was absolutely no way the girls would ever, ever share a bathroom with Lenny or Squiggy. Next, they each wrote down two things they wanted to do while on vacation.

Shirley: Swim in the oceanfront pool
Go to the NC Aquarium in Manteo

Laverne: Soak in the spas ... both of them
Go dancing at Kelly's Tavern

Carmine: Do whatever Shirley wanted to do. Use the exercise room daily.

Lenny and Squiggy: Go to a DareDevils baseball game, eat at Captain Franks, play in the arcade room at the Croatan Surf Club and finally ... go to Pirates Cove and watch the charter boats come in.

This Croatan Surf Club townhouse is on the third floor of the complex. There are three elevators for the building. Quality throughout with upscale appliances, fixtures and furnishings. Indoor pool, outdoor pool --heated, indoor spa and outdoor spa. Arcade room, exercise room. Dunetop deck, gazebo, walkway to the beach, spray ground, covered parking.

No smoking policy. Pets are allowed, dogs only please. Saturday check in day. Mile Post 7.5 on the oceanfront in Kill Devil Hills.

Three bedrooms, three full baths. 2 king beds, 1 pyramid bunk, sleep sofa in the living area. All the bed linens and towels are provided.

Nearby restaurants include Goombays, The Pearl, Kelly's, Red Drum and Kill Devil Grill. Two full service grocery stores are within a 10 minute drive and both are open year 'round.
